Agents from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) successfully apprehended three Chinese fugitives wanted for various criminal activities in both the Philippines and China. The suspects, identified as Jun Chen, 28; Hongru Zhang, 26; and Hao Zhen, 27, were captured by the BI-Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) on August 13 in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.

The trio faces multiple criminal charges, including robbery, grave coercion, illegal detention, gun possession, and illegal drug trading, filed by local police in connection with the alleged kidnapping and illegal detention of a Vietnamese victim.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco clarified that deportation of the suspects will only occur once their criminal cases are resolved. If found guilty, they must first serve their prison sentences.

Rendel Ryan Sy, the acting head of the BI-FSU, revealed that two of the three Chinese nationals had arrest warrants issued by the public security bureau in Jinjiang, China. The third individual was an overstaying alien whose passport had been canceled by the Chinese government, rendering them undocumented.

The suspects are currently in the temporary custody of the Parañaque police as their criminal cases proceed. —Sundy Locus/KG, GMA Integrated News
